The English Literacy and English Support Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the school’s whole-school approach to English literacy and English as an Additional Language (EAL). This role ensures that all students, regardless of their English language proficiency level, have access to high-quality literacy instruction, and that targeted support is delivered through push-in, pull-out, and intensive intervention models, particularly for beginner-level EAL students in Grade 2 and above. This position bridges classroom teaching, literacy enrichment, and inclusive academic support, promoting effective collaboration with all Programme Leads and ensuring alignment with the HIMLAMIS EAL Policy and Strategic Literacy Plan.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or English-related field (required)
Postgraduate qualification in EAL, Literacy Coordination or Educational Leadership (preferred)
Experience
At least 5 years of classroom teaching experience, including working with EAL students
Experience designing or implementing school-wide literacy or EAL programmes
Strong understanding of the CEFR framework, Bell Foundation EAL assessment framework, and inclusive teaching practices
Skills & Knowledge
Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments and teams
Expertise in language acquisition, literacy development, and curriculum differentiation
Confident user of digital tools and trackers for planning, delivery and monitoring
Ability to design training workshops and lead school-wide initiatives
Positive, inclusive and culturally responsive attitude toward students of diverse linguistic backgrounds
